A very rare but important astrological event occurred on June 6, 2012. Venus passed between the earth and the sun. It is important because the occurrence has been used to measure the distance of the earth from the sun. It is rare because it will not happen again for another 100 years (2117). It is safe to say that for most people it was a once in a lifetime event.
There is a first and last time for everything in life. We have our first dance and our last dance. There is the awkwardness of the first kiss and the lingering parting over the last kiss. We draw our first breath and breathe our last. Our first time in church may have been when our mother carried us in her arms. Our last time will be when six friends carry us out in a box.
Opportunities in life come and go. Some may present themselves many times, others but once. It doesn’t matter how many opportunities a procrastinator gets they are all as good as none. The first time and the last time are all the same to him.
Perhaps you have let opportunity after opportunity to serve Jesus pass you by. With each opportunity you say to yourself, “I’ll wait until…” The first opportunity has passed. You know not which will be the last.
Sadly the day of salvation will pass most people by. They will sin away their day of grace and slip into eternity a lost soul. Multitudes will be damned having rejected God’s Spirit week after week, month after month, and year after year.
Ro 13:11, And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. 2Co 6:2, For He says: “In an acceptable time I have heard you, And in the day of salvation I have helped you. Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.”
